About Us
Greyfriar Capital Corporation was founded by Joesph M. "Joe" Hickey, Jr, a private investor. Greyfriar has been involved with successful real estate construction; provided equity financing for leverage buyouts; restructuring and leverage buy outs; and the oil and gas sector.
From 1975 to 1988 Hickey was with Prescott, Ball &Turben, Inc., a leading regional investment banking and brokerage firm headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. He served in several capacities including those of national sales manager and President and Chief Executive Officer. From 1982 through 1987 he was also Chairman of the Board of Carnegie Capital Management Company, which managed over two billion dollars of money-market and mutual fund assets. He was also instrumental in creating Selected Financial Services, Inc., an asset management firm wholly owned by Prescott that encompassed 850 million dollars of mutual fund assets and privately managed accounts.
In 1988, Hickey became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of JW Charles Group, Inc., a Boca Raton, Florida based holding company for JW Charles Securities, Inc., a New York Stock Exchange member firm and JW Charles Reality, Inc., a large real estate brokerage firm. This was a "turn around" situation and Hickey was successful in divesting the real estate company and merging the investment firm.
Hickey has been a past member of the National Association of Securities Dealers District Committees in both Cleveland and Atlanta. He has also served as a member of the Marketing Committee of the Securities Industry Association from 1982 through 1986.
Hickey was selected for the Leadership Cleveland program in 1986. In 1992 he was honored by his alma matter, Indiana University of Pennsylvania as a Distinguished Alumni.
He currently serves as the President of the Lost Tree VilliageChariable Foundation. He belongs to the Castle Pines Golf Club, Castle Creek, Colorado; the Kirtland Country Club, Cleveland, Ohio; the Lost Tree Club, North Palm Beach, Florida; the Loxahatchee Club, Jupiter, Florida; and The Bear's Club in Jupiter, Florida.
